Last winter we enjoyed what could be regarded as very mild conditions for Canterbury, the extended outlook this winter is for temperature and rainfall to be near normal, soil moisture levels and river flows are about equally likely to be in the above normal or near normal range. So perhaps we should expect slightly cooler temperatures and a bit more rainfall than last year.

Can the same be said about the rural lifestyle market, should we expect normal conditions to prevail? In the 12 months to the end of April 588 lifestyle properties changed hands in the Waimakariri, Hurunui and Selwyn districts, over the same period to end of April 2016 there were 587 lifestyle property sales so yes based on this almost identical outcome we could expect the strong conditions to continue in our local lifestyle market with business as usual.

The property market doesn’t stop regardless of what winter may bring and currently we have a significant number of buyers looking for rural lifestyle opportunities throughout Canterbury. So if you’re considering selling we have our winter edition of the popular publication “We Sell Rural Lifestyle” due out late June and now would be a great time to talk to one of our team of Lifestyle agents whom can help secure your spot in this. We’re happy to undertake a free no obligation appraisal of your lifestyle property and take you through the process of selling and preparing your property.

Of course our normal winter conditions means we should expect the odd storm to come through that’ll bring challenges to our rural lifestyle community here in Canterbury…It always pays to be prepared, to plan for our winter livestock movements, think ahead about rotating stock, feed can get low in the winter, the livestock nutritional requirements can increase with the colder weather, so be prepared with adequate additional feed if necessary. Undertake that maintenance to drains, gutters etc you’ve been putting off before it’s too late.

And if your thinking about buying a rural lifestyle property then one of our consultants would be happy to guide you on the path to achieving your real state dreams.

We enjoy everything about our rural lifestyle here in Canterbury and so should you …
